THOUSANDS of motor enthusiasts got the chance to snap up their favourite classic car at an auction last Friday.
First time buyers, collectors and enthusiasts gathered at Ascot Racecourse on March 1 to enjoy the spectacle of 168 cars.
The auction made a sale revenue of over £3 million, with 80 per cent of the motors being bought by keen owners.
Mark Perkins, managing director of Historics, said: "It was a fantastic day with a record attendance of over 3,000 over the two viewing days and the auction itself had an excellent sale result.
"All of us at Historics love classic cars and so it is as much a pleasure as it is a business."
A 1966 Fiat 500, which was previously owned by interior designer Anouska Hempel sold for £9,500.
The French classic grand touring car, a 1963 Facel Vega II was sold for over £140,000. A worthwhile investment after its restoration from being kept in a barn for 25 years has seen its value soar.
Keen bidders also flurried in to try and get their hands on a 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo, which sold for a massive £87,000.
The next auction will be on May 18 at Mercedes Benz World.
