DEDICATED staff at a mental health institution received special recognition awards for their dedication and outstanding work.

The yearly ceremony took place at Broadmoor Hospital in Crowthorne on March 4 where the High Sheriffs of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire handed out awards.

Graham Barker, high sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire, said: "I am proud and privileged to be recognising the excellence of staff at Broadmoor Hospital by presenting these Awards to staff with my colleague, Professor Ruth Farwell, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire.

"When visiting the Hospital, I have been struck by the dedication of the staff at Broadmoor and these High Sheriff’s Awards aim to give recognition to some of the best of people who work there.”

Awards were presented to Dr Shaun Bhattacherjee for his commitment to excellence in the quality of care for patients, and team leader Adayomi Odubiyi-Felix, for demonstrating values and being a true inspiration to colleagues and patients.

As well as this, Val O'Connor won an award for demonstrating a high level of commitment, Simon Froud for exerting the trusts' values, Jason Taplin for being an outstanding colleague and finally, nursing consultant Terry Fegan, for excellence in the running of the patient forum.

Leeanne McGee, from West London NHS Trust, said: “This has been a successful year for Broadmoor with their recent ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and ‘outstanding’ for caring.

"It has been a real pleasure to welcome back our local High Sheriffs for the second year running to recognise the dedication and hard work of our staff.

The director of high secure and forensic services added: "It takes many types of clinical and non-clinical staff to run a complex hospital like Broadmoor, so I’m pleased that the awards reflect the range of people who work here, from doctors and nurses to security staff.”
