TALENTED students took to the stage to perform a spectacular version of We Will Rock You, making it 'one of the best school productions ever seen'.

Sandhurst School in Bracknell put on a huge scale production of the Queen musical from February 26 to 28 to members of the public.

The show was seen as an 'edgy interpretation' of the story and had a highly talented cast working behind it to make it one of the best performances the school has produced to date.

Mark Lovejoy, drama teacher at Sandhurst school, said: "I have been genuinely overwhelmed by how people have got behind the production and offered their support.

"I also have to say that this is probably the most talented, committed - yet - humble cast of performers that I have ever worked with.

"This has been a true testament to what we can achieve if we work together."

Rehearsals began in October 2018 by learning the iconic Queen songs.

In total, 52 students took part and some even got creative and made their own costumes.

A huge technical and production team and live band - led by Connor Smith made the show spectacular and high quality.

Debbie Smith, headteacher at Sandhurst School, said: "The show was without doubt one of the best we have ever staged. "The quality of acting and singing was as good as any professional show. I was so impressed by all the students and those in leading roles were wonderful role models for the younger students who were involved.

"The teamwork and support the cast demonstrated for each other was heart warming."

Mark added: "I think it will be a long time before we are able to do something on the same scale as this, but I am sure that whatever the future holds, there will be more exciting opportunities in the performing arts department."
