BRACKNELL MP Dr Phillip Lee has vented his frustration at Brexit – referring to it as a 'turd'.

Dr Lee, who famously resigned as Justice Minister over the handling of Brexit, was talking on BBC's Politics Live today (February 20).

In recent days, both Labour and Conservative members have left their party and Dr Lee has always been a big supporter of the People's Vote.

Phillip Lee said: "I have never understood why the Conservative Party made a decision in 2016 to own Brexit; to become the Brexit party.

"There are lots of Labour voters who voted Brexit; it should have been a cross-party exercise – a committee – but for some reason, somebody, somewhere thought embracing this turd was going to be a political bounty."

To which, Camilla Tominey, member of the Labour Party, pointed out that 17.4m people from all parties 'voted for this turd' as described by Dr Lee.

In recent months, Dr Lee has supported the proposal of a second referendum and helped to launch the 'Right To Vote' campaign in January.

The Bracknell politician wanted the UK to remain in the EU before the 2016 referendum and fell out with the Prime Minister on a number of occasions.

He quit over a disagreement about Brexit and he made a bold statement, insisting he would not quit as MP after a backlash from residents.
