As happy couples across Berkshire prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style on Thursday, the News reveals the county’s least hygienic places to eat.

Whether you're planning on a cosy night in with a takeaway, a pub feast or a romantic meal at a restaurant, you'll be relying on a food establishment to provide you with the best quality food - but are there places which should be avoided?

We have compiled a full list of the pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways which have been rated a hygiene rating as '0' or '1' in the Reading, Bracknell Forest, Wokingham and Royal Borough districts, according to the most recent data from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

In total, 33 restaurants were given a rating 1 out of 5 and one was given a 0.

Take a look through our list of restaurants above - you may recognise a favourite eatery or somewhere you've been tempted to try before.

Food Standards Agency inspectors investigate the hygiene of how food is handled, the condition of the structure of the building and how the business manages and records what it does to ensure food is safe.

Establishments with low ratings are inspected more frequently than those with higher scores and advice is offered by the environmental health officer to help businesses to improve their standards of food safety.
