SCHOOL children in Berkshire enjoyed a visit from storyteller Martin Reed a member of the Society for Storytelling, he spent the day telling stories to the pupils.

Students from the Shinfield Infant and Nursery School celebrated National Storytelling Week with Martin, with the aim to engage them in literature.

The event was organised by David Wilson Homes Southern, the school is located near to the housebuilders Croft Gardens development.

Amanda Turner, headmaster at Shinfield Infant and Nursery School, said: “We’re very grateful that David Wilson Homes was able to arrange this storytelling event for the pupils of our school.

“It’s great to see the homebuilder reaching out to the local community and the children really enjoyed Martin’s stories.”

The children were also encouraged to participate in the story by acting out characters, as well as solving the questions within the story.

Rob Allen, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “It was a pleasure to organise this storytelling event for the pupils of Shinfield Infant and Nursery School and Martin’s stories really enchanted the children which was great to see.
