A COMMUNITY kiosk has been installed at the Sandhurst Day Centre, which allows people to access the internet who might not be able to at home.

The interactive screen is part of the council’s Warm Welcome Programme to bring the online community to those who can’t access it or don't know how to.

The new kiosk was visited by Councillor Dale Birch who practised using the machine along with other residents.

Cllr Dale Birch, executive member for adult services, health and housing, said: “It’s a real privilege today to see one of our community kiosks in action."

The screens will highlight the different community groups, societies, clubs and activates available in the Bracknell Forest, as well as providing contact numbers for people who can provide extra support.

The kiosk has been installed following a successful bid to the Social Care Digital Innovation Programme. Councils were challenged to come up with innovative ideas to use digital technology to help improve local areas.

Mr Birch added: “These kiosks will be a vital lifeline for our residents, helping to connect people with their community and all Bracknell Forest has to offer in a simple, accessible way.”

Alongside Sandhurst Day Centre, other kiosks are located in Boundary House Surgery, Sandhurst Group Practice and The Oaks and Hollies Children’s Centre.
