A DISABLED man was left on the floor of his hotel room for two hours after the emergency cord in his bathroom stopped working.
Richard Shakespeare was staying at the Ibis hotel on Friar Street in Reading when he fell down on January 16.
Despite pulling the red cord to ask for help, the 36-year-old was left stranded and the hotel has been forced to apologise.
He was eventually helped after he contacted a friend in a different room, who called reception.
A spokesman for Ibis said: "Regrettably, the correct procedures for attending to the guest, and subsequently for how to assist them once the room was accessed, were not followed.
"We acknowledge that on this occasion we have fallen short of the standards we expect and wholeheartedly apologise to Mr Shakespeare for his experience."
Mr Shakespeare, from Derbyshire, lost his balance when he walked into the bathroom.
