A FRIGHTENED kitten underwent a double rescue operation after it was discovered alone on a dual carriageway by a driver.

Last Thursday (January 10) at around 4.30pm, Andrew Hennie was driving back from work on the dual carriageway in Bracknell when he saw a cat shaking all by itself and heard cars beeping their horns.

The kind-hearted man pulled over, popped his hazards on and picked up the stray kitten and placed it in his car - only to then discover the anxious cat had squeezed under the dashboard and wedged itself.

The Bagshot man, said: "Funnily enough I am allergic to cats so I had to get some gloves to pick it up. I couldn't just leave it there so I had to help it."

"The cat was in no man's land. It was so scared and shaking so much, so when he got into my car he wanted to crawl into a space and hide."

Andrew then drove to Jemca Toyata in Bracknell to see if they can rescue the cat out of the dashboard as he owns a Toyota Rav 4 car so assumed they'd probably know how to take it apart.

Mr Hennie added: "They were so great. They dropped everything they were doing to help and when the cat was rescued he started purring so it was really nice."

Nick Carrisi, service supervisor at Toyota Bracknell said: "It was only about five minutes to get the kitten out but it could have been much worse."

"We had a gentlemen come running in to the service department all in a panic.

"He had just rescued a stray kitten from a very busy dual carriageway leading towards the M3 but the poor thing was so scared when he got into Mr Hennies car that it scampered under the dashboard and managed to get himself wedged."

The stray cat was then taken to Moor Cottage Veteriniary Hospital in Binfield and has now been returned safely to his rightful owner.
