BENEFICIARIES of the Three Counties Cycle Ride have been presented with their cheques in Bracknell.

In June this year 600 cyclists took to the roads of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire on a cycle ride, which was organised by the Rotary Club of Bracknell.

The cycle ride was supported by local clubs and groups including the Easthampstead Rotary Club, Ascot Alzheimer’s Association and Scouts and Guides.

This week at the Old Manor Hotel in Bracknell the beneficiaries received their cheques from the proceeds of the event.

Dave Donaldson from the Rotary Club of Bracknell said: “since the club first organised the event in 1983, we have given well over £600,000 to local charities.

“In many cases individuals and teams also gain sponsorship for their own charities, so the Three Counties Cycle Ride has probably generated closer to 3/4 of a million pounds over the years."

A total of £8,500 was presented to the charities Breakthrough Learning, TV Air Ambulance, Pilgrim Hearts and to the Rotary Club of Bracknell.

In addition, a further £3,500 was distributed to the local clubs and groups who helped provide drink stations at the event.
