A KIND-DONATION has been given to the Royal British Legion as part of a charity grant scheme, which launched earlier this year.

The Legal and General homes team visited the Crowthorne branch to hand deliver a cheque for £1,000 as part of the housebuilders quarterly charitable grant scheme with its first token donation box at Buckler's Park visitors centre.

John Allan managing director at Legal and General Homes said: “Our token donation box is a fantastic way for us to support the charities that are closest to the community’s heart and we were delighted to present this cheque to the Royal British Legion this time.

"The charity provides wonderful support to members and veterans of the armed forces and we were pleased to hear that the funds would go towards repairs around the building.”

Children's charity Sebastian's Action Trust and COATS, which supports older people living in Crowthorne was also supported by the grant and received donations of £600 and £400.

Neville Campling, vice-chairman of the Royal British Legion in Crowthorne added: "It has been brilliant to be involved and to work with the Legal & General Homes team who made the application process really straightforward.

"We're extremely grateful to everyone who used their token to vote for us at the Buckler's Park visitors centre as we're completely reliant on donations to make upgrades and improvements to the branch."

Buckler's Park is a new housing development in Crowthorne, providing 1,000 new high quality and contemporary homes. anyone can place a vote at the visitors centre on which charity should receive the grant next.

This year, the quarters chosen charities are The Alexander Devine Children's Hospice, Home Start and the South East Berkshire Gang Show.

Visitors to the development on Old Wokingham Road can vote for one of three local charities to receive the largest share of the £2,000 fund.
