A GUN-SHOOTING saw a man suffer serious leg injuries after he was approached by three men last night.

A man in his 30s was on Norfolk Road at 7.05pm when he was targeted by a trio of men.

One of the three attackers shot him in the leg with a handgun then they all escaped in a white vehicle with blacked out windows.

The victim was then taken to hospital where he remains in a serious, but stable condition.

One man, a 35-year-old from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The incident is not believed to be a 'random attack' and that those involved know each other.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Fiona Pearce of force CID based at Reading police station said: "Although I understand this will be a concerning incident to the local community, I would like to re-assure the public that we do not believe this to be a random shooting, and that all those involved are known to each other.

"However, we are keeping an open mind as to the motive at this time."

The offenders are described as one black man and two men of Asian appearance.

Detective inspector Fiona Pearce added: "You will see an increased police presence in the area in the coming days, including high-visibility extra patrols.
