A CHARITY hopes to end social isolation by encouraging people to write a Christmas card to patients this festive season.
The appeal launched by Sunningdale charity From Me to You, aims to get people to write a card for cancer patience undergoing treatment in hospital.
The charity recently celebrated delivery of its 1000th letter this year – but would love to support more patients.
Co-founder of the charity Alison Hitchcock said: "Christmas can often be a lonely time for those feeling isolated. Our Christmas card appeal asks people to send a card to friends and relatives suffering from cancer letting them know they are not forgotten."
Statistics by the charity show 30 per cent of cancer patients experience social isolation during their illness and this is heightened at Christmas, especially if they are spending time in hospital.
She added: "Recipients tell us that the cards brightened their days and made them feel less forgotten. We have had a wonderful response to our campaign."
