Firefighters from Slough and Langley battled a blaze in a house in Osborne Street, Slough in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The fire started in a ground floor immersion heater at around 12.30am and spread.
A woman was escorted to safety and initial fears that people may be trapped proved unfounded.
Three fire engines attended and two breathing apparatus were used.
Firefighters were on the scene two hours.
