Famous Indian poets sent by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to tour towns and cities across the UK addressed a gathering of 200 people from the South Asian community in Slough.
The event was organised by the Milan Arts Group at Weekes Drive Community Centre, while the poets’ visits to various towns were organised by Tarun Kumar, Cultural Attacheˊ and Hindi Officer at the High Commission of India .
Special guests in the audience at Slough included MP Tan Dhesi and the mayor Councillor Paul Sohal alongside several councillors.
The visiting poets were Kanwar Bechain, Kavita Kiran and Kirti Kale. The event was organised for Milan Arts Group by Cllr Jagjit S Grewal with the help of colleagues Pushpa Kharbanda, S R Sharma and Yash Varma.
The Milan Arts Group, Slough, is a day centre for senior citizens in the Asian community offering cultural, social and physical activities based at Upton Lea Community Centre Monday to Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm.
