THE community came together to promote hundreds of careers and volunteering opportunities to young people.

The Bracknell Public Service Show 2018, held at South Hill Park, was described by organisers as one of the most successful to date.

Exhibitors included Bracknell and Wokingham College, the Royal Navy, Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs and Bracknell Town Council.

Daniel Bell, Uniformed Public Service volunteer said: “It was great to see such an amazing turn out from both services, schools and colleges.

"I think it is the biggest show we have achieved so far with some very impressive kit on show, including a Gazelle helicopter from the Army Air Corps.

"It was fantastic to see so many teenagers getting careers advice in areas that really interest them. I overheard a lot of students saying that they had now decided on the career they wanted to go into which is excellent. "Everyone seemed to enjoy it and I hope everyone managed to take something away from it. I am looking forward to being involved in next year's show.”

The show is free for schools, colleges, universities and the general public to attend and it is also free for services to exhibit at, making it the perfect chance for businesses to promote themselves.

It is designed to give students practical knowledge and advice, as well as the chance to interact with real equipment that they would be using.

Kiran White, Public Service student added: “The Public Services Event was incredibly educational.

"There were all of the public services that you could possible think of and more attending the event, all of whom had interesting information and were able to answer all the questions that I had.

"I found the event incredibly helpful and inspiring, especially due to my chosen career path. The entire event was a very fun experience.”
