A WOMAN from Binfield who has grown her hair for four years will be cutting it off for charity.

Heather Gee, 24, decided to brave the chop after her grandmother was diagnosed with stage 3B lung cancer. After seeing the vital work of the Macmillan Cancer Support nurses, Heather decided to show her appreciation by raising money for them.

Heather, who works as a GDPR consultant in Basingstoke, said: "I spoke to my nanna about doing something to fund raise for Macmillan, and I'd heard about the Brave the Shave campaign. She immediately banned me from shaving my hair, but I managed to get her to agree to letting me cut it."

Her donation will be twofold as in addition to raising money for Macmillan, Heather will donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children battling cancer.

Heather will be braving the chop on Saturday, October 6 at Marc Antoni hair salon in Bracknell where she will have around 12 inches of hair cut.

She said: "Having had such long hair for so long, and always getting complimented on it, I’m certainly feeling nervous about but I’m excited that I’m able to do something good for two great causes."
