Volunteers who have given their time to support good causes across the Royal Borough will be honoured at Maidenhead Town Hall later this month.

WAM Get Involved and the Royal Borough are staging the 2018 Voluntary Sector Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, September 26 at 11.30am.

Volunteers who have been nominated by charities or community groups have all been invited and the awards will be presented by the Mayor Cllr Paul Lion.

Ramesh Kukar, chief officer of WAM Get Involved - which places volunteers with organisations most suited to their talents - said: “We are very lucky in the Royal Borough with around 5000 people volunteering every week – that’s around £21m worth of services a year to help the community. It’s truly inspirational to meet these Volunteers, to thank them and to celebrate that great spirit of Community Involvement.”

At the ceremony winners' trophies will be presented to a Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Team of the Year and Charity/Community Group of the Year, who will also receive a £500 cheque for the Charity.

The awards have been sponsored by the developers the Shanly Foundation and funeral directors E Sargeant & Son.
