PUPILS of a newly-combined school were welcomed through the doors for the first time on Tuesday (4).

Following the amalgamation of College Town Infant and Junior Schools, in Branksome Hill Road, Sandhurst, the combined school will now provide a consistent education for pupils aged three to 11.

The plan was approved earlier this year after more than 70 per cent of respondents agreed with the plan to join the two schools together.

Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said: “I’m delighted that College Town Primary School has now opened and would like to wish the children and school staff all the best for a happy and productive first term”.

Trudi Sammons, headteacher of College Town Primary School said: “The school has had a wonderful facelift over the summer which has provided enhanced facilities for both pupils and staff. All staff, both new and old, are extremely eager to welcome the children to the new primary school. It is without doubt a fantastic opportunity for all.”
