THERE is a feast of musical talent to enjoy in Nettlebed as a new season with Nettlebed Folk Club gets under way.

For the opening night on Monday, Feast of Fiddles’ fiddler Ian Cutler again re-forms the cult 70s and 80s ‘Bully Wee Band’, plus, patron Phil Beer from ‘Show of Hands’ is doing a 30 minute support as well as joining the band for part of their show.

Then, on Monday, January 26, there will be The Churchfitters. This flamboyant band is still taking UK audiences by storm.

Their dynamic personalities present a fast-paced, infectious show full of fresh, original songwriting as well as rearranged songs and tunes from the British Isles, with outstanding vocals and an array of acoustic instruments including fiddle, bass, flute, saxophone, guitar, banjo, dulcimer, whistle, mandolin and musical saw!

The show with Sally Barker on February 2 will be a good night to put in the diary. Sally is known as lead singer of The Poozies, but 2014 has launched her into the public domain by becoming Tom Jones’s finalist in BBC TV’s ‘The Voice’. So as well as having toured with Bob Dylan and Robert Plant she has also supported Sir Tom at a number of his summer concerts!

The concerts start at 8pm at Nettlebed Village Club, High St, Nettlebed, Nr. Henley on Thames, Oxon, RG9 5DD, box office 01628 636620. www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk
