PROMISING synth siblings Disclosure demonstrated why they will have a bright future when they put on an electric performance at CUBED at Sub 89.

The south London duo - aged just 20 and 17 - looked every inch musical pros as they took to the stage at the Friar Street club on Friday to steer the crowd through their adventurous and intricate blend of house, garage, electro and post dubstep.

Fresh faced brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence - who have received regular airplay from Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac this month after being named her best Breakthrough Act of 2012 - kicked off the show with their high-speed hit "Carnival" with its ramped up rhythms and basslines, tumbling keyboard notes and distorted looped female vocals as 3D CUBED graphics lit up the backdrop.

Slowing the pace they eased into the equally abstract "I love...that you know" beefing up its minimalist stop-start drum clap beats, mesmerising melodies and staccato synths with a bass guitar especially for the live show, before excitedly telling the fans: "This is our first ever time in Reading!"

Other highlights of their set included the bouncy and soulful garage-inspired "Tenderly" and the downtempo and dreamy 'Boiling' featuring gorgeous vocals from Sinead Harnett, sampled for the live set, before rounding off the night with their coveted remix of fellow south London singer Jessie Ware's song "Running",

Earlier in the evening equally experimental Bristol based DJ Eats Everything graced the stage mixing everything from underground house to jungle and illustrating his status as Mixmamag Best Breakthrough Producer.

On Friday, May 25, CUBED will feature dance DJ, Hervé plus Rattus Rattus, Chazzymax and Solid Gold Death Star. See http://musicglue.com/cubed for tickets.
