THE Slough Jets are continuing their fine form at the moment and have closed the gap at the top of the EPL standings.
Despite receiving a shock from the Bracknell Bees in overtime on Sunday when they suffered a 4-3 defeat, that result combined with Saturday's convincing 7-1 win over their local rivals meant that they collected three points from the weekend to move within three points of Manchester Phoenix who lead the way.
And the Jets are just one behind Milton Keynes Lightning who have played an extra game.
Head coach Pete Russell commented: "I think we are playing some good hockey at the moment and long may that continue.
"We are playing really well and we are still gelling as a team so that is positive.
"We are a point behind second with a game in hand. If somebody had have said that 20 games into the season I would have taken it and been very happy.
"I'm hoping that over the next two or three weeks we will get results and make sure we are still in the mix. We are doing well and keeping up with the big boys."
On Saturday (6.30pm) Slough host the Peterborough Phantoms and then on Sunday (6pm) the Jets travel to local rivals Guildford Flames in what is sure to be a cracker.
"We've got a tough time this weekend," admitted Russell. "Peterborough are a good team and playing some good hockey at the moment. Guildford will always be tough but they had lost three in a row before Sunday's convincing win (9-2 over the Swindon Wildcats) and they are a wounded animal. But we look forward to facing them, testing ourselves against them and hopefully coming out on top."
