Going, going gone: Kevin Doyle joins Wolves in a £6.5 million deal.
KEVIN Doyle is set to complete his £6.5 million move to Wolves this morning.
The Chronicle exclusively broke the news of the 25-year-old"s impending transfer to the Premier League new boys two weeks ago.
And the deal will be formally tied up today when Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will unveil Doyle as his latest signing at a press conference.
The Republic of Ireland star is likely to pen a four year contract and his move will set a new transfer record for Reading, eclipsing the £5.5 million they received from Stoke City for Dave Kitson last summer.
Doyle told the Wolves website: "I'm delighted to get the move sorted and can't wait to get going.
"I spoke to the manager and chief executive over a week ago and came to the training ground to see everything.
"I've been making my mind up over the last couple of weeks and am just really pleased the decision has been made.
"The facilities here are top class and it's great to be going back into the Premier League again.
"I'm sad to be leaving Reading because I had some great years there but I'm going with their blessing as well which is nice.
"This is a fresh start."
Royals director of football Nick Hammond said: "He has arguably been one of the club's best ever signing."
Aston Villa, Sunderland, Bolton, Fulham and Everton were also linked with the ex-Cork City man"s services but it is Wolves who have won the race.
