NIGEL Levine covered himself in glory in his first senior international at the European Indoor Championships in Turin, Italy.
The Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow athlete played a significant part in the Great British team securing silver medals in the final track event, the 4x400m relay.
He produced an exceptional penultimate leg to hand over the baton in the lead but Richard Buck was overhauled by local favourites Italy although he held on gamely for second.
Dawn Wilson, the other WSEH 400m runner also selected, had to watch as she did not make the final four of the ladies who also won silver in the 4x400m.
Many WSEH athletes were representing their respective counties in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Nottingham, essentially bringing down the curtain on the winter cross country season.
Best placed WSEH athlete in the ten races was the Chiltern League champion, Keegan Lymn, competing for Surrey, who was ninth of some 300 competitors in the under-15 boys race.
