NIGEL Devine's spot in team GB for the 2012 London Olympics is in the hands of the selectors after the Aviva Trials in Birmingham last weekend.

The Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club star will wait on the selectors decision for an individual place in the squad but his time of 46.00 seconds (secs) should be good enough to guarantee a 4x400 metre (m) relay slot.

The 400m also possibly saw the end of former international Lesley Owusu's long career after she suffered a disappointing disqualification in her heat.

Rachel Wallader missed the Olympic qualifying standard for shot put despite an excellent third-place finish with a throw of 15.66m.

Shakira Wight produced a personal best (pb) of 13.30m to take third in the triple jump but was also outside of the Olympic standard.

Helen Pryer made the final of the 200m but a disappointing run saw her back in eighth place in 24.21secs while young sprinter Deji Tobais won his heat of the 100m in 10.41secs and was runner-up in his 200m heat in 21.25secs.

Rory Graham-Watson clocked a pb of one minute 51.54secs (1:51.54) in his 800m heat but Zak Curran, hoping to grab a World Junior Championships qualifying time, set off too fast and faded to finish seventh in 1:53.99.

Ashley Fry finished fourth in his 400m hurdles heat with a time of 53.43secs and while Jacob Paul went slightly faster to clock 53.41 he only finished fifth in his heat.

Ladies Jess McCabe and Laura Burke both placed fifth in their 400m hurdles races with times of 1:2.33 and 1:3.59 respectively.
