TWO goals in as many minutes early in the second half secured a 2-0 win for Reading over Crystal Palace in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

New summer signing Pavel Pogrebnyak opened the scoring on his first start at the Madejski with an emphatic finish into the top corner after 52 minutes.

Two minutes later, strike partner Le Fondre added a second after great build up play involving Mikele Leigertwood, Pogrebnyak and Hal Robson-Kanu, who slid it across for Le Fondre to poke in at the far post.

Palace never had any kind of foothold in the second half and barely got into the attacking third until the dying stages of the game when Owen Garvan was clean through on goal but dragged his shot wide of the far post.

Reading were dominant, particularly in the second half, and they looked very dangerous from both flanks with Robson-Kanu and Garath McCleary regularly putting in crosses, both of which led to the goals.

Reading will now look forward to opening their Premier League campaign against Stoke City at the Madejski Stadium next Saturday (3pm ko).
