READING FC duo Chris Gunter and Dave Edwards will be attempting to send Wales closer to the 2018 World Cup in the coming days.

The pair are both included in Chris Coleman’s squad for back-to-back qualifiers against Georgia and Republic of Ireland.

Wales take on Georgia in Tbilisi tonight (5pm) where a win would see them hold on to second place in Group D behind leaders Serbia.

Then on Monday Coleman’s side – missing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale through injury – host third-placed Republic of Ireland in Cardiff for a match that is likely to decide who finishes group runner-up and possibly seals a play-off spot (7.45pm).

Gunter will be making his 82nd appearance for Wales tonight and will be playing his 62nd international game in succession, while Edwards will earn his 42nd cap if he is involved.

It has already been a successful week for the duo after Gunter was crowned Wales Player of the Year on Monday – ending Bale’s four-year run – while Edwards scooped the Wales Media award.

Royals striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is also hoping to qualify for next year’s finals in Russia with Iceland.
