READING FC are laying on free coach travel for fans to their Championship clash at Sheffield United.

Both season ticket holders and member card holders who buy a ticket for the game at Bramall Lane on Saturday, October 21 can take up the offer.

The news will be a welcome Monday afternoon sweetener for those supporters who witnessed Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Norwich City that left Reading just one points above the drop zone.

A statement from Reading FC says: “We know that supporting the team home and away requires a special kind of commitment.

“And that’s why we’re giving something back to those supporters who put in the hard yards to stretch their vocal chords for the team on the road.”

Reading Chronicle:

Free coaches to Bramall Lane will depart Reading's Madejski Stadium.

Reading’s latest move to reduce the cost of watching the team has been warmly applauded by fans, with an average train ticket to the Steel City costing around £90 return.

It is seven years since Royals last played the Blades at Bramall Lane when Shane Long scored in a 1-1 draw in 2011, Daniel Bogdanovic replying from the penalty spot.

Reading have been allocated 1,040 for the fixture later this month costing from £22 for an adult ticket.

Royals have already signed up to the ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign which means opposition fans pay no more than £20 when they visit Madejski Stadium.

Yet a number of Championship clubs are yet to join the scheme, so Royals supporters will fork out £39 to see their team’s next fixture at Leeds United on October 14.

However, Leeds fans will pay a maximum of £20 for a ticket for the return fixture next March.
