READING Racers take on the Exeter Falcons this Saturday in another home match as they seek to re-establish themselves in the speedway world.

The Eastbourne-based team have still to race an away match after their scheduled ties at Plymouth were postponed due to rain last weekend.

They have, however, been in good form at home and are as yet unbeaten on the Sussex track they have adopted as their home this season.

They go into the match in second place in the Southern Development League, with Exeter sitting at the bottom of the five-team competition, albeit only two points behind their hosts.

Luke Harris again captains the Racers at the top of the team, while local amateur rider Max Pankhurst comes into the team as the Reading management found some of their squad members unavailable.

Exeter include National League rider and Reading local Jamie Sealey in their team as they look to add to a lone victory in five matches so far this season.

Saturday’s line ups:

Reading Racers – Luke Harris, Max Pankhurst, Nick Laurence, Stephen Whitehouse.

Exeter Falcons – Jamie Sealey, Craig Nethercott, Andrew Palmer, Stevie Anderson.

  • READING Racers will compete in their first full scale, 15-heat match since 2008 when they visit the Isle of Wight next Tuesday.

A seven-man team will take on the island’s Warriors team in a National League standard challenge match, with riders being “borrowed” from full-time teams from Britain’s third division.

Among the riders already listed to be competing for the Racers are Mark Baseby, Kelsey Dugard, Ben Hopwood and Ryan Terry-Daley.

Two mini coaches have already sold out for fans set to enjoy a full-day trip to the summer resort, ending the day with some much-missed methanol fuelled action on one of the country’s biggest speedway tracks.

The tie marks the pinnacle of the season so far, after a group of Racers fans decided to reform the club.
