ALI Al-Habsi will not join Reading FC on pre-season tour today and looks set to quit the club.

Royals striker Dominic Samuel has also pulled Jaap Stam's 26-man squad which is due to fly out to Holland this afternoon for a 10-day trip.

Al-Habsi has been chased by big-spending Al-Hilal for a number of weeks, with the Saudi Arabia top-flight club claiming they have agreed a fee with Reading, believed to be in the region of £300,000, and will sign the Oman international keeper on a three-year deal.

Al-Habsi has been voted Royals' Player of the Year during his two seasons at Madejski Stadium.

And although the former Wigan stopper has two years left on his Royals contract, he is keen to move closer to him family and has told Stam he wants to leave.

Stam has already been linked with a replacement for Al-Habsi following rumours of strong interest in Newcastle United's £5m-rated Karl Darlow.

Samuel also looks set for a move away from Royals after failing to nail down a regular place in the first-team squad.

Reading Chronicle:

Dominic Samuel, centre, has been training with Royals pre-season but looks set to leave the club soon.

Blackburn Rovers are said to have tabled a £500,000 offer for the 23-year-old forward, while Barnsley and Ipswich Town are also keen.

Ex-Royals Academy striker Samuel spent an injury-hampered loan spell with Ipswich during the second half of last season and boss Mick McCarthy would like to take him back to Portman Road.

Neither Al-Habsi nor Samuel will join the rest of the Royals squad on the plane today and could seal their moves in the next few days.

A number of Reading first-team players will also miss the four-match tour through injury, with Stam having to rely on a number of youngsters to boost numbers and ease the load.

Yann Kermorgant this week began his recovery from hip and groin surgery, Garath McCleary underwent recent knee surgery and Joseph Mendes, Tennai Watson and Callum Harriott are also sidelined and will not take part.

Reading will be based in Oosterbeek for their Dutch tour which includes friendlies against Belgian top flight side KV Kortrijk and Turkish outfit Gençlerbirliği (both this Saturday) followed by back-to-back clashes with Sparta Rotterdam and Cercle Brugge of Belgium (both Saturday, July 22).
