THE new Chinese owners of Reading FC have already poured £60m into the club's coffers, it has been revealed.

Financial documents submitted to Companies House show Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li's firm, Renhe Sports Management Co Ltd, paid the massive loan to the Royals at the end of May.

In fact, the deal was pushed through before Jaap Stam's men faced Fulham in the Championship play-off semi-final.

The news comes after Royals' technical director Brian Tevreden suggested Stam would be given cash to invest in the squad this summer.

The Companies House report states that the new owners have lent the Royals £60m.

It reads: "The £60,000,000 fixed rate secured loan notes of the Borrower constituted by the Loan Note Instrument, or as the case may require, the amount of such notes for the time being issued and outstanding."

Royals' most recent financial review showed the club's overall debt had risen from £67.7m to around £73m.

Reading Chronicle:

Dai Xiu Li is part of the Chinese takeover of Reading FC.

The Chinese group completed their takeover from the former Thai owners last month after the EFL finally granted approval following a thorough investigation.

It is thought the £60m handout will be mostly used to complete the Chinese takeover and to consolidate the club's existing loans and debt.

It is not yet known whether a chunk of it will be put aside to strengthen the squad, though director of football Tevreden recently stated Stam will have cash to spend in the transfer window.

He added: "We need to be proud of what we have achieved this year.

"Of course we wanted to win the play-off final but now we need to re-build for next year and try to improve in the areas where we need to improve.

"There will be an opportunity to bring in new players.”

Reading, who also received a £10m loan in January, have already been linked with a multi-million pound swoop for Nancy defender Modou Diagne.

Meanwhile, Royals defender Liam Moore and midfielder Liam Kelly have been linked with Premier League sides Burnley and Swansea City respectively.
