LIAM Moore urged veteran striker Yann Kermorgant to reconsider retirement after the Frenchman blasted Reading FC into the Championship play-off final.

Kermorgant's second-half penalty secured a 1-0 win over Fulham at Madejski Stadium for a 2-1 aggregate victory over both legs to seal Royals' place at Wembley, where they will face Huddersfield Town on Monday, May 29 (3pm ko).

And Moore, 24, who dropped out of the top-flight after a torrid season with former champions Leicester City last season, admitted it would be life-changing if Reading get back to the Premier League.

The centre-back praised his team-mates' incredible performances to secure Reading's place in the final, and Jaap Stam's men are now just one win away from brushing shoulders with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal once again.

"The final will be two sets of lads giving it absolutely everything," stated Moore. "It is the biggest prize in football.

“To be in the second tier and one game away from going up changes people’s lives.

“If that fairytale can come true then I will be the happiest man alive."

An airborne Liam Moore beats Fulham's Chris Martin to the ball during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Craven Coottage in the semi final first leg.

Moore has been a mainstay in Royals' back line this season since his £1.5m switch from the Foxes last year, having made 48 appearances to date.

He has been instrumental in Stam's rejuvenated Reading side, but he insisted it is 35-year-old Kermorgant who deserves the plaudits after bagging 19 league goals this campaign.

Kermorgant recently revealed his plans to retire at the end of next season, but Moore suggested there is plenty more to come for Royals' star striker.

"Yann keeps delivering," asserted Moore. "He is getting on now, he keeps saying that, but he keeps delivering and if he continues to keep getting better week in week out next season I think he might have to reconsider retirement.”

Having taken the lead early in the second-half on Tuesday night, it was a backs-to-the-walls job for the Royals as they fended off heavy pressure from the Cottagers.

But their resilient back-line held firm and - with the help of Fulham squandering a couple of chances - Stam's men held on.

And Moore revealed the players gave their all to get Reading into the final where victory would be worth an estimated £170m to the promoted team.

"There were a few empty bodies out there towards the end," he added. "We dug in, players stepped up to the plate again and we’re one game away from the Premier League.

"We have a couple of days off now to rest and recuperate."
