IT’S been an incredibly positive week for Reading.

There were calls for Royals to sign an attacker, and we ended up getting three after Adrian Popa, Jordon Mutch and Lewis Grabban all joined the club.

We also signed talented defender Reece Oxford on loan from West Ham. He’s definitely one for the future.

But I’d also like to wish Dominic Samuel good luck after his loan move to Ipswich.

Not only did we add four new faces this week, but we also recorded two important league wins against Cardiff and Birmingham.

Liam Kelly put in another top-class display against the Bluebirds. He never stopped running and reminded me very much of Jem Karacan.

Former Royal Sean Morrison had a decent game for Cardiff, despite obvious taunts from the home fans.

It was he who won Cardiff’s penalty from which Joe Ralls equalised.

However, Garath McCleary’s assist for John Swift’s opener will remain a highlight for years to come. The Jamaican, international will be rightly proud of that one.

Reading left it late to beat Birmingham, with Swift’s netting for the third times four games.

Injuries to Paul McShane, Joey van den Berg, Yann Kermorgant and Tiago Ilori meant Stam changed his line-up a bit.

It seemed to work well as yet again we had the superior possession (60%), while Birmingham only managed three shots on target.

So with two wins this week I couldn’t be happier – that was until Tuesday night when I found out we’d brought in a brilliant striker in Grabban. He has a prolific record in the Championship, scoring an impressive 22 goals in 44 games in 2013/14.

Meanwhile, Oxford, 18, has played nine games for the Hammers this season – seven in the Premier League and two in the FA Cup. But he has never played a full 90 minutes in the top flight and his arrival should add reassurance in defence given recent injuries.

Mutch is also an exciting prospect, as is Popa.

Reading have made a very real statement of intent and fans are certainly excited.
