Maidenhead Athletics Club's Chris Ellis battles the Cliveden Hills

THE first of the Maidenhead Athletics Club members home in the Bedford Half Marathon was Justin Coombs.

He achieved an excellent time of 1 hour 26 minutes and 7 seconds in a good quality field of 1,327 finishers.

Other Maidenhead competitors were Penny Clayton, who was the sixth senior lady home in 1.29.00, Clyde McCrabbe, who returned to form with a time of 1.41.07 and Emma Coombs in 1.59.22.

Elsewhere, a good field of 30 Maidenhead AC runners took part in the recent Cliveden Cross Country event, organised by friends and neighbours Burnham Joggers.

First home in 15th place overall was Simon Allison in a time of 41 minutes and 1 second, whilst Steph James produced an excellent performance to finish as second lady overall in 44.16.
