WSEH AC athletes dominated the Surrey County AA Young Athletes Cross Country Relays meeting at Guildford.
The club won the Bruce Judd Memorial Award for top aggregate scoring across the six age groups ahead of 17 other clubs.
The under-13 boys race saw the WSEH A team led off by Henry Suggitt, handing over in second place in eight minutes 21 seconds. Jack Rowe swiftly moved into the lead on the second leg with 8:14, and Gus Cockle consolidated on the final leg to secure the gold medals.
The WSEH B team took fourth spot. Greg Baynham clocked 8:34, Daniel Dry 8:35 and Zain Westbrooke 8:57. The WSEH C team were 14th with Jack Major finishing in 9:11.
In the under-13 girls, Abbie Schmid came home in the lead on the opening leg and Eloise Milborne conceded one place to finish in 9:28 secs. Despite clocking the fastest time of the day with 8:29, Ruth Bourne could not make up the leeway and the team settled for silver.
The B team finished in ninth place with Joanne Fallon clocking the best time of the trio with 9:54. The WSEH C team were in touch in tenth place, with Kathryn Ditton pulling back nine places with her time of 9:21.
The under-15 boys event saw WSEH scoop a brace of medals, the A team gold and the B team bronze. Gari Brown led off the A team in 7:46, but adrift of B team runner James Tidd who clocked 7:21. Ben Bradley restored the balance on the second leg, moving the A team up into second with his 7:47 with Robbie Partridge slipping back to fifth with 9:33. The final leg saw Kegan Lymn move the A team into pole position with his 7:39 and Jonny Dry made certain of a placing with his 8:04. The C team were 15th, with Daniel Ditton fastest in 8:57.
There was just one WSEH team in the under-15 girls, finishing in tenth place. Emily Wilkinson missed the start on the opening leg, but still came home in 14th place in 10:25. Rebekah King made up some of the leeway to clock 9:35 and Laura Suggitt also improved a place on the final leg with 9:28.
The WSEH under-17 men were never headed. Connor Vine grabbed the early lead with his 7:33, held by Nathan Ditton on the second leg with 7:32, leaving Rikki Letch to power his way to the fastest time of the day with 7:02 to secure the gold.
Perhaps the surprise medals came in the under-17 ladies race. Georgina Taylor led off in fifth place with 9:05. Hannah Barfield slipped into the medal reckoning with her second leg in 8:52. Newcomer Sarah Spears held onto the bronze awards with her 9:19 clocki
