The Crystal Palace loanee joined Reading on March 26 and has made four appearances so far, but is yet to score a goal.

He won’t get a chance to do that at Wembley as he is cup tied after playing in the competition for Cambridge United earlier this season.

Appiah will be watching from the stands on Saturday as a Reading representative but admits he’ll find it a little bit strange after growing up supporting Arsenal.

“I’ll be cheering on from the stands as I’m cup tied,” he said. “Arsenal are the team that I support so it’s a bit of a double-edged sword with that and being ineligible.

“I’ll be sat there supporting Reading, though. Of course, I want us to win.”

Appiah followed in the footsteps of Glenn Murray by joining Reading on loan from Crystal Palace.

Murray netted eight goals in 18 games during his spell at the Madejski Stadium.

And when 24-year-old Appiah was offered the chance to follow the same path, he grasped the opportunity with both hands.

“It was a good chance to come here and get games,” he said. “It was an easy decision to make to come here. I spoke to (Reading boss) Steve Clarke and also to Glenn Murray and they both said good things, which meant it wasn’t a hard decision.”
