FULL TIME: Reading FC 2 - 0 Sheff Wed

90 mins. READING BOOKING. Michael Hector was yellow carded a little earlier for a heavy challenge.

90 mins. FOUR minutes of time added on. Surely a well-deserved and much-needed three points for the Royals and a first Championship win in January on the last day of the month.

88 mins. READING CHANCE. Royals win a free-kick just outside the Owls area but Norwood's effort sails over the bar.

87 mins. Can't think of too many negatives from today's performance. Yes, there was a little spat between Danny Williams and Garath McCleary a minute ago with lots of finger pointing, but it was a mere storm in a tea cup.

83 mins. Reading may boast a 2-0 lead but they are still running themselves into the ground and chasing every lost cause. This has been a really encouraging performance from Steve Clarke's men today. Surely the only way is up now!

79 mins. SHEFF WED CHANCE: Kieran Lee's effort is blocked by Stephen Kelly in a great position.

Then Federici makes a superb finger tip save to keep out Maghoma's curling free-kick.

78 mins. READING SUBS: Double change by Steve Clarke as Jamie Mackie replaces Robson-Kanu and Nick Blackman comes on for McCleary.

74 mins. SHEFF WED CHANCE. Jacques Maghoma looks like rounding Adam Federici to score, but the Aussie keeper stays on his feet, forced Maghoma wide and give his defenders enough time to protect the goal. Maghoma takes too long and fires wide anyway.

73 mins. BBC Sport reckon Sheff Wed have had 57% of possession to Reading's 43%. That may be the case but, believe me, Royals have been the much better side from the first whistle.

68 mins: SW SUB: Last change for Stuart Gray as Claude Dielna replaces Hutchinson.

Jeremy Helan also replaced Mattock in their other half-time change.

67 mins. READING SUB: Oliver Norwood for Cox.

62 mins. PENALTY MISSED.

Terrible spot-kick from Robson-Kanu which is weak and straight at Westwood.

Royals were awarded the penalty for a foul by Jeremy Helan on Pogrebnyak after a storming run down the middle by McCleary.

61 mins. PENALTY TO READING.

60 mins. SHEFF WED CHANCE: Federici punches a corner clear and Liam Palmer hits the ball on the volley from 25-yards, and miles over the bar.

58 mins. Apologies, forgot to mention the Owls substitution at half time as Atdhe Nuhiu has replaced Lewis Baker.

55 mins. Today's attendance is 17,775 including 2,392 from Sheffield Wednesday.

53 mins. Decent spell for Sheffield Wednesday here, but Reading don't look like conceding either. Alex Pearce and Michael Hector have been excellent at the heart of defence today.

47 mins. READING CHANCE. Garath McCleary fires the ball into the back of the Sheff Wed net - but the linesman raises his flag for offside and the goal is disallowed.

4.03pm: KICK OFF. The second half is underway.

HALF TIME: Reading FC 2 - 0 Sheff Wed.

45 mins SHEFF WED CHANCE: Reading are let off the hook as Lewis Baker's effort looks to be going in until Federici makes a superb reflex save and the ball bounces an inch wide of the post. The subsequent corner is bouncing around the Royals six-yard box, but the referee blows for a foul against Wednesday and Royals survive.

43 mins. READING CHANCE: Royals nearly go 3-0 up as Robson-Kanu hooks the ball past Westwood from a tight angle only for a back-tracking Loovens to clear off the line.

40 mins READING FC 2 - 0 SHEFF WED (Chalobah).

Take a bow Nathaniel Chalobah!

Garath McCleary started it off with an 80 yard run that left Joe Mattock in his wake. McCleary then whipped in a low cross and Chalobah directed the ball into the roof of the net with a clinical first-time effort without breaking stride.

Superb team goal and a superb finish from the on-loan Chelsea youngster for his first Royals goal.

40 mins. GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

37 mins. READING CHANCE: McCleary tees up Cox but he blazes over from the edge of the area. Poor execution from Cox there.

34 mins. SW YELLOW CARD. Loovens brings down McCleary with a cynical challenge.

30 mins. READING FC 1 - 0 SHEFF WED. (Pogrebnyak).

And Royals take the lead through a bullet header from Pavel Pogrebnyak.

McCleary played Stephen Kelly around the back of Owls' defence and the Irishman's dangerous cross found Pogrebnyak who nodded it past Westwood from eight yards out.

Pogrebnyak did well to drift away from his marker to find some space in the area, and it was a great cross from Kelly that found the big Russian.

30 mins. GGGGGOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

25 mins: READING CHANCE: A lovely move down the left sees Cox find the on-rushing Obita who whips in a great cross, but Glenn Loovens makes a vital interception to take the ball away from Robson-Kanu a few yards out from goal.

23 mins: SHEFF WED CHANCE: A swift breakaway ends with Chris Maguire running directly at last-man Alex Pearce. Thankfully, Pearce got a toe on the ball to halt the move in his own area.

19 mins. SHEFF WED CHANCE: Liam Baker tries his luck from 22 yards, but shoots straight down Federici's throat. Meat and drink for the Aussie.

16 mins: READING CHANCE: Another good opportunity goes begging as McCleary cuts inside onto his left but fails to hit the target from no more that 12 yards. He should at the very least have tested Westwood there.

15 mins: The game has settled down a bit now. Reading are seeing more of the ball but Owls are defending well.

9 mins: SHEFF WED CHANCE: Owls striker Will Kane is left in acres of space when a cross comes into the box. But his first-time shot lacks power and Adam Federici makes a simple save, much to his relief.

8 mins: READING CHANCE: Should be 1-0 to the Royals. Hal Robson-Kanu slid in Simon Cox and the striker only had Westwood to beat. But he tried to curl the ball around the Owls keeper who ended up saving comfortably.

7 mins. READING CHANCE: Garath McCleary races to the byeline and his cross looks certain to end up in the back of the net via a Pogrebnyak touch. But Keiren Westwood comes off his line to snatch the ball off the Russian's toe.

5 mins. Good work from Simon Cox down the left wins Reading a corner. Jordan Obita takes but Wednesday clear their lines.

3 mins. It's been a quiet opening so far. Wednesday look to be using Sam Hutchinson as a sweeper in front of their back four.

3.02pm: KICK OFF. And we're underway. Good following of what looks like 1,800 Owls fans here today.

2.55pm. Lovely touch from Reading FC today as Robin Friday's granddaughter, Libby, meets the players before kick off.

What Royals fans would give for a bit of that legendary Friday magic from their team today.

Kick off a few minutes away now.

2.50pm. Have to say the pitch at the Mad Stad has seen better days. Looks a bit threadbare in places, especially around the goalmouth. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Today's referee is Brendan Malone.

2.45pm. There is, however, some good news too. Reading have tightened up considerably under Steve Clarke and are not shipping as many goals.

In fact, it's three clean sheets in January so far, but still no victory in the league in the month.

2.40pm For the record, Reading's last five results at home in the Championship are 0-0 against Middlesbrough, a 2-1 win against Norwich, a 1-0 defeat by Watford, another 0-0 against Bolton and a 1-0 loss to Charlton.

2.36pm. It's fair to say Reading desperately need a win today to ease any relegation worries that might be creeping in.

Royals have won only one of their last eight Championships matches and it is no surprise to see them starting the day in 18th position, nine places beneath the Owls.

Reading biggest problem? Scoring goals. They have netted eight goals in their last eight games in all competitions.

But Steve Clarke's men have scored in only one of their last five home fixtures in the Championship, and that is an alarming statistic.

SHEFFIELD WED: Westwood - Mattock, Loovens (c), Lees, Hutchinson, Maguire, Baker, Palmer, Maghoma, Lee, Keane. Subs: Wildsmith, Buxton, May, Nuhiu, Coke, Helan, Dielna.

2.25pm. Remember you can follow our Royals reporter, Paul Carey, on twitter @PaulCareySport today and throughout the week for all the latest news from the club.

READING FC: Federici - Kelly, Pearce (c), Hector, Obita - McCleary, Chalobah, Williams, Robson-Kanu - Cox Pogrebnyak.Subs: Andersen, Cooper, Travner, Norwood, Karacan, Makie Blackman.

2.10pm. READING MAKE TWO CHANGES.

Reading make two changes to the side which laboured to a 0-0 draw at 10-man Millwall on Tuesday night.

Simon Cox and Garath McCleary both return to the starting line-up, with Oliver Norwood and Nick Blackman the men to miss out.

2.08pm. And it's a warm welcome from the Mad Stad on this freezing cold day.

Team news to follow.
