Marcus Richardson’s men secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to struggling Bracknell Town on Monday night, having previously recorded an impressive 1-0 win at nearest rivals Ascot United on Saturday, ending their rivals own seven-match winning streak.

In a scrappy affair that failed to reflect the form or ability of these sides, a solitary 12th minute goal from Anthony White was enough to give Ibis victory in the clash of the top two against The Yellamen.

Ibis had conceded just one goal in their last five league games, but the Yellamen nearly matched that total within the first 10 minutes as Jermaine Roche went close.

Daryl McLean whipped in a dangerous cross but Roche couldn’t get enough on it to divert it into the goal.

And the Yellamen were made to regret it moments later when they gifted Ibis the opening goal after a mistake from Chris Grace in the Ascot goal.

A long clearance saw the keeper come rushing out of his box, but the bounce on the ball meant he could only head it up in the air, allowing White to nod the ball into an empty net.

In a tight affair, it was the home side who went closest to a second but White’s chip was narrowly wide when through on goal.

A long range effort from Joe Gritt flew over the bar in added time at the end of the first-half, but that was as close as the Yellamen got to restoring parity in a disappointing first-half.

The second-half followed in the same vein, with Ascot struggling to create chances in a close encounter.

The best chance came in the 75th minute, when Matt Jones’ diving header from a Damien Markman cross went inches wide.

Grace was then called into action four minutes later as a stunning diving save saw him tip Jahmal White’s effort past the post.

But with Ascot struggling, they failed to create any other chances and Ibis held on for a vital win at the top of the Premier Division.

And Highmoor backed that success with a comfortable win against Bracknell two days later.

However it was the visiting Robins who had the first chance, as Jake White’s header from Jordan Rowland’s corner crashed against the post in the 14th minute.

And they were made to rue missing that opportunity as Ibis took the lead in the 26th minute.

Rorie Palmer received the ball inside the box, and turned to fire low and hard beyond James Hawtree in the Bracknell goal.

The goal calmed Ibis down and they started to play some good football, getting their reward in the 40th minute when they doubled their lead.

It came courtesy of Mitchell Parker, who struck a fine free-kick to make it 2-0 before the break.

Bracknell rallied in the second half and had two shots cleared off the line, but Ibis were comfortable with a 2-0 lead.

While they rarely threatened to extend that, they happily claimed the three points without too many difficulties and now sit one point clear at the top with a game in hand on Ascot.

Highmoor will look to continue their superb run as they visit Thatcham Town on Saturday (3pm), before travelling to Oxfordshire to tackle Ardley United on Tuesday evening (7.30pm).
