The ex-Manchester United starlet moved to Reading from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town for around £700,000 in the summer, signing a three-year deal.

And Norwood has risen to the challenge with a number of eye-catching displays in central midfield.

The 23-year-old Northern Ireland international declared: “I’ve got to repay the faith the manager showed me when he brought me to this club.

“I’ve got to show him what I can do every time he gives me that chance and try my best to stay in the team.

“I’m loving it here. I was away with Northern Ireland last week when we won our first away game for four years.

“Then I come back to Reading and we beat Fulham 3-0 and then win against Millwall.

“I’m enjoying being part of the team and hopefully I’m showing what I can do.”

A Simon Cox brace and Nick Blackman penalty helped Reading secure a nervy 3-2 win over Millwall at home on Tuesday and their third Championship victory in a row.

Glenn Murray failed to add to his two debut goals against Fulham on Saturday, but Norwood insists the Crystal Palace loan striker will be a huge asset in the months to come.

“Glenn is a goalscorer and that’s what we need,” he stated. “He had two chances on Saturday and scored twice.

“In his last season in the Championship he scored 30 goals. Hopefully he can do that for us and take us up the league.”

Reading will be aiming to make it four successive league win this Saturday when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday (3pm ko).

Adkins men were thrashed 5-2 at Hillsborough last season and will be determined to get their revenge.
