Bracknell boss Kerthney Carty has been impressed with what he's seen during his club's first few training sessions.

MORE than 50 players turned up for the first training session of the summer at Bracknell Town as Kerthney Carty"s new regime began its work at Larges Lane.

The new boss was impressed by the numbers which included many new faces as well as a host of players from last season"s squad.

Last Thursday"s session was followed quickly by another on Saturday which saw the likes of Joel Havermans, Luke Dexter, Dave Stevens and Sean Grant take part.

The training sessions continued on Tuesday and there is another tonight (Thursday) as Carty looks to get potential squad players in the best shape possible ahead of the forthcoming Southern League campaign.

The Robins boss said: 'We had a good turnout last Thursday and we had quite a few players who are still on holiday or who got lost on their way that didn"t show up.

'So we only had 52 players as opposed to about 80. A lot of them were local boys from around the Bracknell area which is what we want so we"re happy with that.

'They were all put through their paces and all the boys who were there worked hard. A few of them came in on Saturday and said they were still feeling stiff.

'Training is very important to me and if the players" attitude is not right then they won"t be sticking around. I can"t work with players like that.'

He added: 'So far everyone has looked hungry.

'That is very encouraging, the camaraderie amongst the lads was very good and that"s what you want to see.'

Bracknell"s first pre-season games are just three weeks away with the Robins lined up to take part in the Hillingdon Borough tournament on July 18-19.

They will then travel to Fleet Spurs the following Tuesday and Carty admits these will be the games he is using as trials before he finalises his squad ahead of the Southern League kick-off.

'The trials will be the friendlies to be honest,' he said. 'That"s what I use them for.

'Everything done before that is to get the players in shape to play.

'Those games will give me the chance to have a look at the bulk of the players before making any real decisions.'

* TRAINING continues tonight (Thursday) at Birch Hill Recreation Ground from 7pm.
