Adam Cornell rediscovered his scoring form in devastating fashion as Bracknell Town went goal crazy on Saturday.

Having failed to find the net in six games, the club's leading scorer struck four times to lead the title-chasing Robins to a remarkable 10-3 win over Fairford.

There was also a hat-trick for TJ Bohane, a brace from Joe Grant and a goal from Darren Wheeler, a new dual-registered signing from Combined Counties League side Godalming.

It was great entertainment for another healthy Larges Lane crowd of 237 - although a total embarrassment for the few fans who had accepted Fairford's offer of a free coach trip to the game.

The relegation-threatened visitors went into the game buoyed by a 6-2 win over Windsor and an 8-2 Supplementary Cup victory at Faringdon, but were ripped to pieces by a brilliant Bracknell side in red-hot form.

Their record-breaking triumph owed much to Cornell being back to his sharpest.

The previous week he had been sadly out of touch against Longlevens, but it was a totally different story here.

Everyone was saying, if he could get one goal, more would follow - and that's exactly what happened, much to his own and team's delight.

Cornell was mobbed after his opener on 20 minutes as he got headed in Seb Bowerman's cross.

Three minutes later Bohane doubled the lead and the pattern continued with Cornell netting his second in the 28th minute, followed by another from Bohane four minutes before half-time.

Five minutes after the break Dan Bailey pulled a goal back and, after Cornell had completed his hat-trick, Fairford netted their second through Liam Gale, a spell of three goals in as many minutes.

From then on, it became a simple matter of how many Town would score against a shattered-looking Fairford side.

Bohane headed in a Dave Hancock cross to make it 6-2 just after the hour mark.

Wheeler, having replaced Seb Bowerman, made an instant impact on his debut by providing a perfect outswinging corner for Grant to head home.

Grant then turned provider, setting up Cornell for his fourth goal of the afternoon and Town's eighth.

The Robins were awarded a penalty for handball, only for Wheeler to see his spot-kick saved, but he quickly made amends with a superb chip into the top corner.

Grant scored again in the 82nd minute to take Town's tally into double figures with Gale netting a third for Fairford just before the end of a remarkable game.

Bracknell play the return fixture at Fairford on April 7, but before that they have home games against Royal Wootton Bassett this Saturday and title rivals Highworth on Easter Monday, both games with a 3pm kick-off.
