WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook stay fifth in the Hellenic League Division One East table following a 3-1 defeat at Virginia Water.

A 22nd-minute goal from Ryan Curtis gave Waters 1-0 half-time lead, and they doubled their advantage early in the second period thanks to Adam McNamara.

Josh Guichard all but put the game to bed when he made it 3-0 on 71 minutes, and although George Marsh scored five minutes from time, Dan Bateman’s (pictured above) Sumas rarely looked like forcing the draw.

Wokingham & Emmbrook host Virginia Water as part of a quick-fire double-header this coming Saturday (2.15pm).

  • SEVENTH-PLACED Sandhurst Town slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Virginia Water in Division One East of the Hellenic League on Tuesday.

The Fizzers travel to AFC Aldermaston on Saturday (3pm).

  • EVERSLEY & California dropped to third in the Combined Counties League Division One table after they were beaten 2-1 at Cobham.

The home side took the lead courtesy of a Matthew Duckham strike, and they doubled their advantage when Chris Thurgood hit the back of the net.

Eversley toiled as they tried to fight back into the game, and had to wait until added time to get on the scoresheet, James Robertson scoring a penalty to make it 2-1.

However, there was insufficient time to find an equaliser as the Boars suffered a third league defeat in five games.

Eversley & California welcome Sheerwater to the ESA Sports Ground this coming Saturday (3pm).
