NEW signing Rob Lazarczuk bagged a hat-trick as Ascot United triumphed 6-0 at Ringwood in their FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

The Yellamen’s nerves were settled by two early penalties, but they maintained a high tempo throughout to leave their Wessex League Division One hosts shell-shocked.

The first of their spot kicks came after just two minutes when Victor Abreu was needlessly chopped down just inside the area. Lazarczuk drilled the penalty into the bottom left-hand corner, leaving keeper Lee Smith rooted to the spot.

With his second penalty, awarded for a push on Samir Regragui, the former Windsor hot-shot rifled the ball into the top right-hand corner.

Ringwood tried to get back into the game, but Ascot keeper Lee Allen made a decent save from Ben Harris’ deflected effort after 23 minutes and then saved from Lee Vint, who had earlier gone close with a header.

Ascot increased their lead before half-time when Jonny Denton swung a dangerous free-kick into the box for Josh Dillon to glance home a header into the left-hand corner.

Dillon suffered a back injury and was replaced at half-time by James Goodey and United were forced to make another substitution when Jono Malone took over from Sam Boultwood, hurt in a crunching tackle.

Although Allen had to make another fine stop from Harris, the Yellamen maintained their pressure and scored three times in the final 15 minutes.

Firstly, Abreu raced on to Louis Bouwers’ clearance to round Smith before firing home.

Then Regragui capitalised on dreadful defending to smash home a fifth before Lazarczuk drilled home an 89th-minute effort at the near post to complete his hat-trick.

It was a job very well done for Neil Richards’ (pictured above) side, who will take much pride in the response to the midweek defeat at Bracknell, with a clean sheet the icing on the cake.
