MANAGER Roger Herridge says Binfield FC have raised their standards off the field and are now aiming to do likewise on the pitch, writes Dave Wright.

The Moles used their £300,000-plus new-look facilities at Hill Farm Lane for the first time when they played Hungerford in a friendly last Thursday.

“They are fantastic,” said Herridge as he surveyed the new dressing rooms, plus two for match officials (male and female), medical room and refurbished bar area while giving special thanks to club officers Rob Challis, Glenn Duggleby and Mick Baldrey for their part in making it all happen.

He added: “I don’t know of a better club at our level, or the one above when it comes to getting things right and that is as good a reason as any for a player wanting to join the club.

“The facilities are excellent and it’s a great place to play. I know I rant and rave at times, but we treat players all right.”

Whilst several of last season’s squad left during the summer – some to clubs with a bigger playing budget – there has been no shortage of fresh faces turning up and with the likelihood of more to come.

Binfield played three friendlies last week with new players involved in each of them.

“If they want to win as much as I do, then that is half my battle won,” said Herridge, whose side lost 5-1 to Hungerford before winning 6-0 away to Knaphill in their final friendly on Saturday.

“We looked quite solid in certain areas, but need to improve in others. There are players with a question mark over them and if they have the opportunity then they will have to perform to keep their place.”
