BURGHFIELD kept alive their Division Two title hopes by collecting a brace of victories, writes Richard Ashton.

They beat current leaders Westwood United Reserves 3-1 on Wednesday – Dominic McKenzie, Richard Dance and Billy Margetts getting the goals – before overcoming Barkham Athletic 4-1 on Saturday.

Burghfield are now eight points behind the table-toppers, but have three games in hand. Westwood finished their season with a convincing 6-2 success at Maidenhead Magpies Reserves to keep the pressure on.

An 87th-minute strike from substitute Lewis O’Connor proved the winner for second-placed Finchampstead Reserves as they earned a 3-2 success at Taplow United Reserves. James Payne and Richard Johnson got the other goals for Finch, with Jack Shea and Tom Wisely on target for the hosts.

Braces from Adam Luckett and Mark Fox set Wargrave on their way to a 5-2 victory at Woodcote Stoke Row Reserves, replacement Callum Alliston getting the other. Michael Davies and an own goal provided the consolations for WSR.

An Ashley Searle hat-trick fired Reading YMCA to the Premier Division championship as they beat Unity 4-0. Kaser Chowdhary got the other goal for the unbeaten Young Men, who also brushed aside Berks County 4-1 on Wednesday.

Ryan Adams, Dan Donegan, Lorenzo Medford and Jordan Cox netted for the home side.

Second-placed Marlow United bounced back from a 4-1 defeat at Newbury to beat Woodcote Stoke Row 6-2.

Daniel Langford struck a fine hat-trick for Newbury and Gary Dredge was also on target, Ryan Britnell getting the consolation for Woodcote.

Against WSR, Michael Robinson and Ollie Flint both grabbed doubles, with the other goals coming from Qwamani Thomas and Liam Bushay. Adam Cashin-Murray and James Worsfold scored for the visitors.

Kai Murphy-Douglas and Lee Hawkins netted in Cookham Dean’s 2-0 success at Woodley United Reserves, and a Joe Webb effort earned Mortimer a 1-1 draw at Highmoor Ibis Reserves.

An Orlando Jeffrey double and a goal from Ryan North gave Reading YMCA Rapids a 3-1 home win against Cookham Dean Reserves in Division One.

In Division Three, Cameron Netherwood-Meek, Mitchell Burley, Matthew Clements, Josh Trayte and Paul Lyall were all on target as Maidenhead Town Reserves overcame Rotherfield United Reserves 5-2, and Woodley United A beat Ashridge Park 6-3.

Brett Rann was on the scoresheet as Division Four champions South Reading ended their season with a 1-1 draw against Hurst A.

Wargrave Reserves thumped Goring United Reserves 7-3 and Woodley United B won an extraordinary nine-goal thriller shoot-out 5-4 against Twyford & Ruscombe.

Substitute Omar Saleh scored twice with the other goals coming from John Leach, Martin King and Callum Fox-Spence for United.

A Miles Keeley brace and goals from Oliver Lawson and George Lloyd fired Berks County Reserves into the final of the Reading Junior Cup with a 4-1 home triumph against Harchester Hawks. They take on Hurst Reserves at Scours Lane this Saturday.
