BRACKNELL Town are now in charge of their own destiny, writes Dave Wright.

That’s the view of manager Mark Tallentire after his side had returned to the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division with a convincing 3-0 win at home to Tuffley Rovers on Saturday.

It was their 10th successive league win and their 14th in all competitions.

The Robins lead title rivals Thame United by one point, with both sides having played 23 games.

“We have 11 games left and to me they are 11 cup finals,” said Tallentire.

Thame (3-0 over Binfield) and Thatcham (3-1 at Lydney) also won last weekend to keep the pressure on Town.

But as the Robins boss said: “All we are concerned about is looking after ourselves. We are in charge of our own destiny.

“I feel you have got to have that insular sort of attitude about it, so we are quite aware of what is in front of us.

“But there is no way we are getting too far ahead of ourselves.

“This week all our focus is on our game with Lydney on Saturday.”

Adam Cornell is set to return to the attack for this home fixture after missing the win over Tuffley due to work commitments.

He remains the club’s leading scorer with 30 goals in all competitions, but now leads TJ Bohane by only three in the race to win Bracknell’s own Golden Boot award.

Bohane is in red hot form, following up hat-tricks against Burnham and Highmoor Ibis with a second-half brace last Saturday.

“His two goals were sheer class, especially the second,” commented Tallentire.

“He is getting better and better and the players around him are also buzzing.”

Neighbours Binfield were unable to do Bracknell any favours by losing at Thame last weekend, but have another opportunity this Saturday when they go to fourth-placed Thatcham.

Manager Roger Herridge revealed he is hoping to make one or two new signings in the next week or so.

Ascot United’s new manager Neil Richards will be picking the side for the first time on Saturday (1.30pm ko) when they visit Division One East side Chalfont Wasps in the first round of the Bluefin Sport Hellenic Supplementary Cup.

He will have to make changes with a number of players having left last week to join league rivals Burnham, who are also under new management. Third-bottom Wokingham & Emmbrook, without a game last weekend, are back in Division One East action at second-placed Headington Amateurs (2.15pm), their penultimate away league fixture of the season.
