ASCOT United's management team of Jeff Lamb, Paul McGrotty and Derek Sweetman are all to leave the club, writes Dave Wright.

Their final game will be on Saturday when the Yellamen play Royal Wootton Bassett at The Racecourse Ground this Saturday.

Under their leadership Ascot enjoyed the most successful period in the club’s history.

Since Lamb and McGrotty took over in May 2011 the club appeared in two FA Vase quarter finals, had three successive top-four finishes in the Hellenic Premier Division, won the Hellenic League Cup and the Hellenic Floodlit Cup.

But last summer they lost several players to neighbours Bracknell Town and, as a result, their performances have slumped. They have failed to win any of their last 10 league and cup ties, leaving them down in 13th place in the table.

A lack of player availability has always been a problem, and in recent weeks Lamb has been playing himself with McGrotty being named among the substitutes.

A club statement said: “We are disappointed and saddened to see them leave we owe them all a huge debt of gratitude for their commitment, skill and leadership and wish them every success in the future.

“Irrespective as to whatever they choose to do next they will always be welcome at Ascot United.”

Ascot are hoping to name a new manager as soon as possible.

Roger Herridge, whose Binfield side defeated Ascot 1-0 last week, said he was sad to see them go, saying they had "done a fantastic job in their time in charge."
