The company was set up in 2006 by former Minor County player Chris Ellison to provide cricket and sports related opportunities in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.

It aims to complement the excellent work undertaken by schools, clubs, district and county programmes in the delivery of high quality cricket coaching.

Much of this work takes place during the school holidays, evenings and weekends.

Performance Cricket autumn programme begins next month at The Forest School, in Winnersh and Shiplake College, in Henley.

Mr Ellison said: “We are passionate about spreading the cricket message across this part of the Thames Valley.

“Matt’s appointment is just the first step in that process and he will be bringing his coaching skills, enthusiasm and passion for the game to the fore.”

Rowe spent several years as coach and development officer for the Cornwall Cricket Board.

A talented all-rounder, he currently plays senior cricket for Cornwall County Cricket Club and captained Camborne Cricket Club in the Cornwall Premier League this season.

He is currently working towards his ECB Level 3 award and will play a key role in continuing Performance Cricket's support and development of local school, college and club cricket in Berkshire, South Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.

In addition, he will take the lead with the busy school holiday coaching programmes, one to one sessions, not to mention Little Crickets and Disability Cricket activities.

Rowe said: “I am aware of the impact Performance Cricket has had on cricket in the area and I'm looking forward to working alongside Chris and his team of experienced coaches.

"I will use my enthusiasm, knowledge and expertise to continue to improve cricket in schools, clubs and new settings throughout Berkshire and surrounding counties.”
