And the ground could hardly be more aptly named for this match.

It will be great news for the winners, as they will be victorious for the first time in the Unicorns Championship this season.

But there will be little consolation for the losers as a defeat would leave them bottom of the Western Division table with just one match remaining.

It has been a disappointing season for both counties, although not for Oxfordshire in the Unicorns Trophy.

While last year’s winners Berkshire failed to get beyond the group stage after three defeats, Oxon have made it through to the final and will play Devon at Wormsley on August 27.

But, due to player availability, they are able to field a much stronger side on a Sunday than they can in the three-day competition.

Berkshire encountered similar unavailability problems of their own when they lost to Herefordshire at Finchampstead last week, but expect to be stronger for their trip into the Oxfordshire countryside.

This will be the 157th meeting between the two counties. Berkshire have won 39 times and Oxon 34. There was one tied game, while the other 82 have been drawn, including the last three.

BERKSHIRE Women look set to finish third in Division 1 of the ECB County Championship - their highest ever placing.

The final placings for third and fourth have still to be confirmed as the latest table shows Nottinghamshire, currently fourth, still having an outstanding fixture against Yorkshire. But it looks likely the game will not be played.

Berkshire completed their championship fixtures with a 76-run victory over Warwickshire at Wokingham CC on Sunday.

Skipper Heather Knight stole the honours, with both bat and ball.

The England star hit 101 out of her side’s all-out total of 199 and then took 5-14 off nine overs as Warwicks were shot out for 123.

BERKSHIRE finished runners-up in the Under-11 Shrewsbury Festival last week.

They also won two individual awards with Finchampstead’s Jed Crerar being named wicket-keeper of the tournament and Henley’s Monty Bradbury the best fielder.

Berkshire won all their group games against Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Staffordshire.

But in the final they lost out to Shropshire.

Liam Hilditch made 61 not out and Bradbury 44 as Berkshire posted 185-9 off their 44 overs.

But the host county replied with 187-4 off 30.4 overs to win the match.
