Leah Barrow in action at Reading.
CHAMPIONS Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow saw off strong opposition to win the Reading meeting of the National Young Athletes League on Sunday.
Despite the wet and windy conditions, WSEH still produced a good string of results including a new club record in the under-17 womens 4x300m team of Hannah Kirby, Georgia Taylor, Laura Burke and Leah Barrow.
The under-17 women also gained maximum points in the sprints thanks to Chloe Mays and Karimah Muhammad in the 100m, Mays and Barrow in the 200m and Georgia Lamothe (PB 40.1 seconds) and Burke in the 300m.
Taylor had earlier ran a personal best in the 300m hurdles to take second place in 48.9 with Ella Pepper (PB 2.28.4) and Naomi Barbour claiming second places in the 800m.
Alyssa Spitzer made a fine debut in the 3,000m to finish runner-up and there were also some good displays in the field. The highlights being new bests for Ellie Norris in the discus and hammer and Tara Barratt also in the hammer with Helena Farmer and Sarah Taplin both gaining firsts in the javelin.
In the under-15 girls maximum points came in the sprints and hurdles from Steph Clitheroe and Kate Reynolds. Joanne Fallon (2.28.9) ran a PB in the 800m with the impressive Ruth Bourne again winning the 1,500m.
Morgan lake did the business in the under-13 girls, winning the 150 in a PB of 20.4, and the long jump with a second place in the hurdles and she was well supported by Ellie Boatman.
There were also wins for Becca Croft, Saha Hollenbeck and Hope White with a double triumph for Lake and Mikeala Wright in the long jump and the girls rounded off a good day with victory in the 4x100m.
WSEH boys also amassed plenty of points with Ainsley Campbell winning the 200m and 400m and Connor Vine the 800m in a double with Zak Curran.
Maximum points were accrued in the 1,500m via Elliott Woolmer and James Bennington, which was repeated in the 300m by Keegan Lymn and Lewis Sloan. More wins were attained by Sam Maguire in the short hurdles, Nathan Ditton and James Tidd in the 1,500m steeplechase.
The best of the throws proved to be the opening hammer where Mark White produced a PB to win in 46.74m, backed up by Iain Botting in the B string. Charlie Smith and David Walker claimed first places in the pole vault.
In the under-15 boys Callum Todd-Ferguson had an impressive to debut to win the 800m and Dan Ditton was victorious in the pole vault.
George Butler starred in the under-13 boys, winning the 200m, 100m and long jump in a personal best of 4.85m. Will Brennan, Tom Coe, Gus Cockle and George Bourne all did well in the middle distance events.
